Job summary

Tahoe Donner Association's Downhill Ski Resort in Truckee, CA is seeking fun and personable Ski Instructors for seasonal roles. You will teach adult and children ski or snowboard classes and help with ski school organization, special events, races and other ski area activities.

The position emphasizes delivering quality instruction, exceptional guest service, and a safe, memorable experience for visitors across all skill levels.

Qualifications

  • Must be comfortable skiing on groomed terrain.
  • Ability to assess and teach to an appropriate level for each student or group.
  • PSIA membership recommended.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications recommended.
  • Effective communication and strong customer service skills.
  • Safety awareness and vigilance while on snow.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ski and snowboard classes and assist with ski school activities, events and races.
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests, members and staff.
  • Assist with equipment fitting, pass checking and on-snow information.
  • Support rental shop operations and light cleaning duties as needed.
  • Help with group bookings, tours and special events.

Job Details Job Location: Downhill Ski Resort - Truckee, CA 96161 Position Type: Seasonal Salary Range: $19.68 - $27.16 Hourly

Tahoe Donner Association is looking for fun and personable Ski Instructors to join our Downhill Ski Resort Operations! The Ski and Snowboard School Instructor is responsible for teaching adult and children ski or snowboard classes and assisting with ski school organization, special events, races and other ski area activities. This position provides quality ski and snowboard instruction while delivering exceptional guest service, contributing to a memorable experience for visitors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, business partners and employees.
  • Work with guests of all ages.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Tahoe Donner Policies and procedures and teaching of skiing techniques as applicable to the position.
  • Uphold Tahoe Donner Association’s zero tolerance standard for sexual abuse and molestation by following protocols to protect students from inappropriate behavior by staff, members, guests, public and other students.
  • Maintains an environment of safety, fun and learning.
  • Teach ski and snowshoe lessons, guided tours, programs, clinics. group bookings, and special events as assigned.
  • Assist ski school students with proper ski equipment use and proper ski techniques.
  • Assist with customer service including providing on snow information, answering questions, encouraging lesson participation, assisting with equipment fitting and pass checking.
  • Assist with rental shop service if requested.
  • Assist with light cleaning duties and snow removal including shoveling and clearing snow from walkways and paths.

We are looking for the following qualifications:

Required at all levels
  • Must be comfortable and competent skiing and riding on groomed terrain.
  • Ability to assess and teach to a level appropriate to an assigned student or group’s abilities, fitness and needs.
  • Current Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) membership recommended.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certifications recommended.
  • Effective communication skills, oral and written.
  • Strong sense of customer service and safety awareness
Level II
  • Accomplish all duties listed to teach Level 8 Students.
  • For skiing this represents the parallel to dynamic parallel levels, effectively managed on most terrain, including Black levels of terrain and snow conditions.
  • Current Certification in ski binding procedures (will certify as needed).
  • Current Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA Level II) certification or equivalent required.

These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent and two years’ related experience and/or training in the snow sports business; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
