Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Systems Administrator to join the JMIE Division at the Applied Research Laboratory. The role requires managing Windows and Linux systems, network equipment, and secure DoD/IC infrastructures in a hybrid on-site/work-from-home setup in San Diego, CA.

The position emphasizes security compliance, incident monitoring, and disaster recovery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years relevant experience for Advanced Professional; equivalent combinations accepted.
• U.S. Government computers, networks, and security requirements.
• DoD and IC security standards familiarity (RMF, IAM, etc.).
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI security clearance prior to start.
• Experience in server/desktop security implementation and management.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, operate, and maintain systems hardware, software, and infrastructure.
• Manage Windows and Linux OS, applications, networks, and switches.
• Configure distributed authentication services for DoD/IC environments.
• Build systems from bare metal per accredited baselines.
• Conduct security monitoring and log analysis for intrusions.
• Perform regular backups, archival, and purge procedures.
• Create, modify, delete user accounts as requested.
• Perform performance tuning and hardware upgrades as needed.
• Repair and recover from hardware/software failures across sites.
• Develop, document, and monitor cybersecurity implementation plans.
• Maintain video distribution systems and displays.
