Job summary

Atlas Technologies, a veteran-owned IT company serving multiple DoD customers, seeks a Service Transition Engineer to standardize operations as the customer app moves to automated, infrastructure-as-code on AWS GovCloud.

You will translate engineers’ work into operable documentation, validate procedures in sandbox environments, and maintain runbooks, diagrams, and training materials to support a smooth transition.

Qualifications

• 8+ years IT operations, systems administration, or infrastructure support experience or a technical degree with 4+ years.
• Experience writing operational documentation (runbooks, SOPs, admin guides) for production systems.
• Experience supporting migration, modernization, or contract transition is strongly preferred.
• DoD 8140 qualification for the assigned work role, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• ITIL 4 Foundation is preferred.
• AWS or Azure associate-level cert, RHCSA, or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain operational documentation based on engineers' work.
• Validate procedures by running them in sandbox environments before deployment.
• Assess system operations including provisioning, patching, change management, backup and recovery, access management; propose improvements.
• Build handoff packages for seamless transition to operations or contractors.
• Keep documentation current as systems change and track changes in Git workflow.
• Create diagrams and flowcharts showing processes and system behavior.
• Develop training materials for operations staff adapting to new tools and processes.
• Incorporate incident lessons into runbooks.
