Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in SRE, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, distributed systems, or cloud operations.
• Hands-on Kubernetes, container orchestration, and large-scale deployment platforms.
• Strong experience with Argo CD, GitOps workflows, and CI/CD automation.
• Object-oriented programming experience (Java, C#, Python, Go) prior to DevOps/Platform Engineering roles.
• Experience with FedRAMP High, IL5, or other highly regulated cloud environments is highly preferred.

Piper Companies is seeking a DevOps Tech Lead to support a growing client in the government technology and cloud services industry. The DevOps Tech Lead role is fully remote. The DevOps Tech Lead role is ideal for a seasoned platform engineering professional with deep experience in Kubernetes, Argo CD, deployment automation, and building scalable self-service platforms for engineering teams operating in highly regulated environments.

Responsibilities of the DevOps Tech Lead include:

• Define and drive the technical vision for Platform Services supporting FedRAMP High and IL5 environments.
• Architect and maintain Kubernetes-based deployment systems utilizing Argo CD and GitOps methodologies.
• Develop and standardize "golden paths" that enable engineering teams to efficiently deploy, operate, and scale applications on the platform.
• Lead platform engineering initiatives focused on reliability, automation, observability, and operational excellence.
• Partner with software engineering, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure secure and compliant cloud-native deployments.

Requirements of the DevOps Tech Lead include:

• 8+ years of experience in SRE, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, distributed systems, or cloud operations.
• Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and large-scale deployment platforms.
• Strong experience implementing and supporting Argo CD, GitOps workflows, and CI/CD automation.
• Prior object-oriented programming experience (Java, C#, Python, Go, or similar) before transitioning into DevOps or Platform Engineering roles.
• Experience supporting FedRAMP High, IL5, or other highly regulated cloud environments is highly preferred.

Compensation for the DevOps Tech Lead include:

• $150,000 - $180,000 annually
• Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday and Sick Leave if Required by Law.
