Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a DevOps Engineering Support Team Leader to guide the Research IT Infrastructure Group on onsite operations in Oak Ridge, TN. You will oversee deployment, automation, monitoring, and management tools for researchers and their projects.

You will lead a team, foster best practices for Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud/on-prem solutions, and collaborate with researchers to deliver secure, scalable infrastructure aligned with ORNL’s mission.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a technical/scientific, business, or related field with 8+ years of experience (or equivalent).
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools (Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet, or similar CI/CD tools).
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, Go, PowerShell).
• Demonstrated leadership ability across projects or teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff performance management, development plans, and assessments.
• Hold routine staff meetings to track projects and resolve blockers.
• Manage time/attendance oversight and training budgets; hire/contract as needed.
• Oversee stakeholder communication, and provide major IT initiative updates.
• Develop and review DevOps solutions with staff and customers; optimize Kubernetes and CI/CD pipelines.
• Document new tools and trends to guide DevOps strategy and service delivery.
