Job summary

BMC Software, Inc. in New York seeks a DevOps Migration Engineer focused on Mainframe Source Code Management to design, migrate and optimize the AMI DevX Code Pipeline, migrating legacy SCMs into a unified deployment pipeline.

You will collaborate with developers, QA, operations and project leaders to deliver secure, scalable migrations, integrating with Git, Eclipse, VS Code, Jenkins and Azure DevOps as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in mainframe SCM/release management as administrator; 2+ years in AMI DevX Code Pipeline (ISPW) strongly preferred
• Proven experience migrating from SCMs like Endevor, Librarian, ChangeMan; knowledge of code promotion and versioning strategies
• z/OS fundamentals: JCL, JES2/3, ISPF; dataset design (PDS/PDSE, VSAM) and COBOL/Assembler/PL/I familiarity
• Developer tooling: Git workflow for mainframe; Eclipse/VS Code toolchains and Code Pipeline extensions
• Security & compliance: Code Pipeline configurations; RACF/ACF2/Top Secret security knowledge
• Troubleshooting: SDSF logs, build/deploy diagnostics, performance tuning
• Soft skills: communication, stakeholder management, training delivery, risk management, analytical thinking

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end migration planning and execution of legacy SCM systems into DevX Code Pipeline
• Model lifecycle metadata for migrations and define code promotion strategies
• Develop build/generate automation and deployment processing for pipelines
• Integrate APIs and toolchains; ensure security/governance configurations

DevOps Migration Engineer - Mainframe Source Code Management

DevOps Migration Engineer - Mainframe Source Code Management is responsible for the design, configuration, administration, and optimization of the AMI DevX Code Pipeline platform, with a strong emphasis on migrating legacy or third-party Source Code Management (SCM) systems (e.g., Endevor, ChangeMan, Librarian) into DevX Code Pipeline. This role owns end-to-end migration planning and execution, lifecycle and metadata modeling, build/generate automation, deployment processing, API and toolchain integration, and security/governance configuration. The administrator partners closely with developers, testers, QA staff, operations teams, and project leaders to deliver a secure, stable, and streamlined solution. In some cases, integration with Git, Eclipse, VS Code, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps is also good to have.

To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Mainframe (z/OS) environments
• Preferred experience with AMI DevX Code Pipeline (formerly Compuware ISPW)
• Hands-on experience with SCM tools like: Endevor, ChangeMan, Librarian, Panvalet and others
• Knowledge of: JCL, TSO, ISPF Services (Panels, Skeletons, File Tailoring, CLIST and others)
• Scripting skills: REXX, CLIST

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years in mainframe SCM/release management as administrator AND 2+ years in BMC AMI DevX Code Pipeline (ISPW) strongly preferred
• SCM Migration: Proven experience migrating from SCMs like Endevor, Librarian, ChangeMan and others; SCM data models and lifecycle workflows; Code promotion and versioning strategies; Generate and deploy activities
• z/OS Fundamentals: JCL, JES2/3, ISPF, REXX; Dataset design (PDS/PDSE, VSAM); Understanidng of COBOL/Assembler/PL/I compiler and binder options
• Developer Tooling: Git workflow for mainframe; Workbench for Eclipse; AMI DevX Workbench for VS Code - Code Pipeline extensions
• Security & Compliance: Code Pipeline rule/object/method configuration; Enterprise security (RACF/ACF2/Top Secret)
• Troubleshooting: SDSF log analysis, build/deploy diagnostics, performance tuning
• Soft Skills: Communication, stakeholder management, training delivery, project execution, risk management; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Critical thinking, assertiveness and ability to provide constructive feedback
