Qualifications

• 6+ years in DevOps, platform, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
• 2+ years leading engineers directly or as a technical lead for a small team.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS in production environments.
• Experience building and improving CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Proven track record operating production systems with reliability, observability, and incident response.
• Experience with cloud security fundamentals, secrets management, IAM, and secure deployment practices.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, networking, and shell-based troubleshooting.
• Experience with Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• Ability to review AI-generated code or configurations with sound engineering judgment.
• Clear communication across engineering, leadership, and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of two DevOps engineers.
• Own the health and maturity of the DevOps function: infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and release processes.
• Define and execute a DevOps roadmap aligned with engineering and business goals.
• Partner with software engineers to improve developer experience and deployment reliability.
• Strengthen infrastructure as code, automation standards, and operational runbooks.
• Oversee production operations: monitoring, alerting, incident response, and root cause analysis.
• Drive reliability, availability, backup and recovery readiness, and disaster recovery planning.
• Guide secure infrastructure and delivery practices with security and engineering leadership.
• Manage and optimize AWS usage with scalability, resilience, and cost focus.
• Track and report key operational metrics (deployment frequency, change failure rate, availability, MTTR, cloud spend).
• Help evaluate tooling and vendor choices for a small engineering organization.
• Support future hiring and growth of the DevOps function.
• Use AI coding assistants and automation tools as part of daily workflows.
