Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support mission-critical cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes platform initiatives within a secure government environment. The role requires an active Secret Clearance and is located in or around Reston, VA or RTP, NC, with onsite work in Raleigh, NC as needed.

You will design and automate cloud infrastructure using IaC tools, develop deployment pipelines, and manage containerized workloads in Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering with automation focus.
• Strong experience developing automation solutions and scripting with Python.
• Hands-on experience using Terraform and Terragrunt for IaC deployments.
• Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters and workloads.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Strong knowledge of Linux administration, shell scripting, and system troubleshooting.
• Understanding of networking concepts, IAM roles, security groups, and cloud security fundamentals.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) preferred.
• Knowledge of NIST, FedRAMP, DoD, or other regulatory compliance frameworks preferred.
• Experience supporting classified, government, or highly regulated environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage secure cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt.
• Develop automation tools, scripts, and services utilizing Python.
• Build, deploy, and maintain containerized applications within Kubernetes environments.
• Implement and support CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery and infrastructure deployments.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to support application deployment, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Monitor system performance, availability, reliability, and security across cloud environments.
• Enforce infrastructure security, governance, compliance, and operational best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions to improve platform stability and scalability.
