Job summary

LLNL is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join Livermore Computing’s Platform Services team. You will build and support containerized stacks in OpenShift and Kubernetes, collaborate across teams, and help deploy robust, scalable infrastructure for HPC and cloud-related workloads.

The role emphasizes on-site presence with limited telecommuting, requires a DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain, and offers a competitive DOE-level salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
• Experience deploying web apps/micro-services in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Familiarity with CI pipelines that automate builds, tests, workflows, tasks or other processes.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef or Salt).
• Ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and support containerized apps and stacks in LC OpenShift/Kubernetes clusters using established tools and practices.
• Identify technical issues and contribute to DevOps solutions.
• Perform software engineering using established practices for robust software quality, including testing and change management.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure secure, integrated solutions.
• Provide timely, customer-focused support to HPC users of tools and services.
• Assist with administering OpenShift/Kubernetes infra in Linux environments and security requirements.
• Evaluate and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging tools; enable zero-downtime deployments.
