Job summary

General Atomics in San Diego seeks an experienced electrical engineer to lead the design, operation, and maintenance of high- and medium-voltage power systems in fusion research facilities. You will coordinate with operations, diagnostics, and controls teams to support facility objectives and ensure reliable electrical delivery for experiments.

You will manage staff, technicians, and contractors, develop project schedules and budgets, and ensure compliance with DOE and NFPA safety standards

Responsibilities

• Manage high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems supporting fusion operations.
• Ensure reliable operation of pulsed-power, power-conversion, switchgear, transformer, grounding, and protection systems.
• Lead planning and execution of electrical infrastructure upgrades for experimental campaigns and facility modernization.
• Direct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of power-system failures.
• Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
