Job summary

Kemper Corporation in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a DevOps Engineer to design, implement, and manage enterprise DevOps and platform engineering capabilities across on‑prem and AWS cloud environments. You will support CI/CD tooling, container platforms, automation, and secure infrastructure while partnering with cross‑functional teams to optimize developer experience.

The role requires hands‑on AWS and IaC experience, containerization skills, and strong collaboration.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/Engineering and/or DevOps related work experience.
Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC), configuration management, and automation practices.
Experience with containers and Kubernetes/EKS, including deployments and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Maintain and improve CI/CD processes and artifacts for automated builds, tests, releases, and deployments.
Design and automate cloud and hybrid infrastructure using AWS services, IaC, and deployment workflows.
Monitor health, performance, and capacity of build and deployment platforms; troubleshoot issues.
Support enterprise platforms like Jenkins, GitLab, Artifactory/Xray, SonarQube; collaborate with security and infra teams.
