Job summary

Itron, Inc. is seeking a DevOps Engineer in Chicago to design, build, and maintain cloud infra and deployment pipelines. You will partner with software, product, and operations teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions for utility and energy customers.

The role emphasizes IaC (Terraform), CI/CD automation, and production-grade environments with a strong focus on reliability and collaboration in a fast-moving, agile setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering experience.
• Hands-on with Docker and containerization technologies.
• Experience with ECS or Kubernetes (EKS).
• Strong AWS knowledge (VPC, ECS, EKS, EC2, S3, etc.).
• Proficient with Terraform IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Scripting in Python or similar language.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with engineering to deploy scalable, secure infra.
• Own production-grade environments with high availability.
• Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform.
• Monitor and optimize cloud services; automate repetitive tasks.
• Support security, governance, and compliance initiatives.
• Communicate complex concepts clearly to stakeholders.
