Job summary

BigTime Software, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a DevOps Engineer to build and maintain infrastructure, pipelines, and automation that enable reliable software delivery. The role spans Windows and Linux, with strong AWS, IaC, and container experience.

You will design scalable cloud infrastructure, manage EKS/ECS, write automation scripts, and collaborate with development and QA teams to improve releases and security. Hybrid work is offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including Helm.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and best practices.
• Experience deploying and monitoring .NET apps and SQL Server on RDS (or equivalent).
• Proficiency with Git and GitLab CI/CD; scripting in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or C#.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Documenting work as you go and collaborating across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt, with AWS CDK where it fits.
• Deploy, configure, and manage AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, ElastiCache, DocumentDB).
• Run containerized workloads on EKS/ECS/App Runner; maintain Helm charts and deployments with Helmfile.
• Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines to standardize deployments.
• Write scripts and tooling to automate manual processes and reduce toil.
• Ensure patching and maintenance across Windows and Linux environments; manage configuration tooling.
• Implement monitoring with CloudWatch, Datadog, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry; improve observability.
• Support security/compliance and work with auditors to maintain SOC 2 controls; collaborate with devs and QA.
