Job summary

The Phoenix Group is seeking a hands-on Platform Engineer to help build out a robust testing ecosystem for development systems and push automation across environments. You will partner with developers, architects, and other infrastructure teams to streamline CI/CD, maintain system health, and implement security-conscious operations.

Responsibilities include designing automated tests (load and regression), driving deployment reliability, and documenting standards and repeatable processes.

Qualifications

• Familiar with Linux administration and broader infra/DevOps experience.
• Designing, standardizing, or migrating systems and processes rather than following runbooks.
• Exposure to web apps and collaboration with live-app teams.
• Experience building or contributing to automated testing (load testing, regression detection, CI/CD integration).
• Comfortable across infrastructure, cloud, and application-adjacent responsibilities.
• Strong communicator who can work with both infra and development teams.
• Ability to reason through unfamiliar or ambiguous issues instead of defaulting to templates.

• Help build out a testing ecosystem for development systems, including automated testing approaches for catching errors and validating performance under load
• Bring a quality mindset to changes and deployments — thinking about how something could fail before it does, not just reacting when it does

Automation & Reliability

• Build and maintain automation to reduce manual work and improve consistency across environments
• Contribute to CI/CD and deployment workflows, and help streamline how changes get shipped safely
• Monitor system health and proactively address issues before they become incidents

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work directly with developers, architects, and other infrastructure teams as a hands-on partner, not just a ticket queue
• Translate operational needs into practical solutions, documenting standards and repeatable processes along the way
• Support cloud-based infrastructure alongside on-prem systems as the environment evolves

Security & Stability

• Apply sound security and hardening practices as part of day-to-day operations
• Support messaging, data, and integration services that other systems depend on

Qualifications

• Working familiarity with Linux administration, paired with broader infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering experience
• Track record of designing, standardizing, or migrating systems and processes rather than executing existing runbooks or procedures
• Exposure to web applications and the teams that build them, including direct collaboration with developers supporting a live application
• Experience building or contributing to automated testing (load testing, error/regression detection, CI/CD test integration) is a strong plus
• Comfortable working across infrastructure, cloud, and application-adjacent responsibilities
