Job summary

PTR Global is seeking a DevOps Engineer with strong development skills in Python or Java to join a long-term contract. This role requires hands-on AWS, Terraform, Couchbase or other NoSQL, and experience building reliable CI/CD pipelines.

It is onsite in Sunnyvale, CA / Austin, TX with a hybrid model: three days onsite weekly (Tue–Thu) and remote on Mon & Fri. The client prefers local candidates and will typically conduct one-round virtual interviews.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years in DevOps, SRE, cloud infra or related engineering role.
• Strong hands-on AWS experience.
• Understanding of reliability, monitoring, automation, incident management, and capacity planning.
• 2–5 years Python experience for automation.
• 2–5 years AWS S3 experience.
• 2–5 years Terraform experience.
• At least 1 year Couchbase experience.
• Experience Linux administration, networking, production systems.
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting in distributed and cloud environments.
• Experience in production with high availability and scalability.

Day 1 Onsite Sunnyvale, CA / Austin, TX (Client prefers only local folks)

Hybrid: 3 days onsite/week (Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday is onsite, and Monday, Friday is Remote)

Mode of Interview: Mostly 1 round virtual

Client wants a DevOps Engineer with Python or Java (who are good in development) and preferably Couchbase, NoSQL. If they don't have Couchbase- then any other NoSQL is also fine.

Required Skills

• 5–10 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Cloud Infrastructure, or a related engineering role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with AWS.
• Strong understanding of DevOps and SRE principles, including reliability, monitoring, automation, incident management, and capacity planning.
• 2–5 years of Python experience, with the ability to develop automation and operational tools.
• 2–5 years of AWS S3 experience and familiarity with AWS storage and cloud services.
• 2–5 years of Terraform experience and strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code.
• At least 1 year of hands‑on Couchbase experience.
• Experience with Linux administration, networking, troubleshooting, and production systems.
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in distributed and cloud environments.
• Experience working in production environments with high availability and scalability requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating Couchbase clusters at scale.
• Experience with Couchbase XDCR, replication, indexing, performance tuning, backup/restore, and cluster upgrades.
• Experience automating database provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Experience with AWS services such as EC2, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS, EBS, Auto Scaling, and networking services.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or CloudWatch.
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools.
• Understanding of security, IAM, encryption, secrets management, and cloud security best practices.
• Experience participating in on‑call rotations and production incident management.

Pay Range: $65/hr - $70/hr

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
