We are looking for a Senior DevOps Architect – AWS with 8+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud architecture, automation, and platform engineering.
The role requires strong hands-on expertise in designing and implementing secure, scalable, and highly available AWS environments, with a particular focus on Amazon API Gateway, cloud-native integrations, CI/CD automation, infrastructure as code, observability, and operational excellence.
You will define DevOps architecture and engineering standards while delivering automated platforms that support reliable application development, deployment, integration, and production operations.

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Pittsburgh, PA is $120k - $130k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement enterprise-scale AWS DevOps architectures.
- Architect and manage Amazon API Gateway, including REST, HTTP, and WebSocket APIs.
- Configure API security using IAM, Cognito, JWT, OAuth 2.0, Lambda authorizers, mTLS, and AWS WAF.
- Integrate API Gateway with Lambda, ECS/EKS, ALB/NLB, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, and private VPC services.
- Design API versioning, throttling, usage plans, custom domains, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS DevOps services.
- Automate infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
- Implement AWS networking, IAM, logging, monitoring, security, and disaster-recovery solutions.
- Lead troubleshooting, performance optimization, incident resolution, and root-cause analysis.
- Define technical standards, reference architectures, and operational best practices.
- Mentor DevOps and cloud engineers and lead architecture and code reviews.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, SRE, or platform engineering.
- 5+ years of hands‑on AWS experience in production environments.
- Strong expertise with Amazon API Gateway, including integrations, authorizers, throttling, custom domains, VPC Links, OpenAPI, logging, and deployments.
- Advanced knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, VPC, IAM, CloudFront, Route 53, WAF, CloudWatch, SQS, SNS, KMS, and Secrets Manager.
- Strong experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
- Experience designing CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies.
- Strong knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, networking, DNS, HTTP, and TLS.
- Experience with observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or OpenSearch.
- Scripting experience with Python, Bash, or Go.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, high availability, scalability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.
- AWS Professional-level certification is preferred.
- Strong technical leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
