Job summary

Synechron in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer to design, build, automate, and support modern cloud-native platforms. You will collaborate with development, security, and operations to improve reliability, scalability, and deployment efficiency.

Key tasks include designing cloud infrastructure, building CI/CD pipelines, implementing IaC with Terraform/CloudFormation, managing Kubernetes clusters, and ensuring security and observability.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Infra Engineering.
  • Hands-on with AWS/Azure/GCP cloud platforms.
  • Proficient in Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.
  • CI/CD tools proficiency (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Bamboo).
  • Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or Pulumi experience.
  • Scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go.
  • Monitoring/observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or New Relic.
  • Strong Linux administration and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and security best practices.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer to design, build, automate, and support modern cloud-native platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform engineering. The role requires close collaboration with development, security, and operations teams to improve application reliability, scalability, and deployment efficiency.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $90k - $100k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role
Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available cloud infrastructure and platform services.
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate application deployments and releases.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
  • Deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for platform reliability and observability.
  • Automate operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve application deployment, scalability, and performance.
  • Ensure platform security, compliance, and governance standards are met.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis.
Requirements:
  • Years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or Bamboo.
  • Strong experience with Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or New Relic.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux administration and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps and security best practices.
Preferred, but not required:
  • Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices.
  • Experience with cloud security, IAM, and compliance frameworks.
  • Exposure to API gateways, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with Kubernetes platforms such as EKS, AKS, or GKE.
  • Knowledge of FinOps and cloud cost optimization strategies.
