Job summary

Synechron, a global technology consulting firm, seeks a Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-native platforms. You will work across DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and IaC to improve reliability and deployment efficiency.

Based in Charlotte, NC, the role offers a base salary of $90k-$95k per year plus benefits, with opportunities to collaborate across development, security, and operations teams and to participate in FinLabs projects.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Infra Engineering.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or Bamboo.
  • Strong experience with Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or New Relic.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux administration and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps and security best practices.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer to design, build, automate, and support modern cloud-native platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform engineering. The role requires close collaboration with development, security, and operations teams to improve application reliability, scalability, and deployment efficiency.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $90k - $95k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role
Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available cloud infrastructure and platform services.
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate application deployments and releases.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
  • Deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters and containerized workloads.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for platform reliability and observability.
  • Automate operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve application deployment, scalability, and performance.
  • Ensure platform security, compliance, and governance standards are met.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration technologies.

  • Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices.
  • Experience with cloud security, IAM, and compliance frameworks.
  • Exposure to API gateways, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with Kubernetes platforms such as EKS, AKS, or GKE.
  • Knowledge of FinOps and cloud cost optimization strategies.
