Job summary

St. Luke’s Health System in Meridian is seeking a Device Registered Nurse for the SL Heart Rhythm Center to perform device interrogations and reprogramming of pacemakers, ICDs, and loop recorders.

The role includes enrollment in device management systems, remote monitoring, triage of remote alerts, and collaboration with cardiology teams to optimize patient outcomes. Travel to Boise and other SL locations may be required; a sign‑on bonus is available.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in the State of Practice and BLS certification.
• 1 year of nursing experience.
• Preferred: telemetry, cardiology, or critical care experience.
• ECG/arrhythmia knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Interrogate and reprogram cardiac devices (pacemakers, ICDs, loop recorders).
• Enroll devices in device management systems and perform remote monitoring.
• Triages patients via telephone and remote alerts; liaises with cardiology team.
• Assist with device recalls/alerts and coordinate with device company reps.
• Document findings and prepare reports in EHR and device systems; notify physicians.

We're hiring a Device Registered Nurse at SL Heart Rhythm Center in Meridian!

St. Luke’s Heart Rhythm Center is a service of St. Luke’s Clinic - Idaho Cardiology Associates. The clinic offers a wide range of services and are committed to providing expert care and treatment of heart arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation. The team specializes in electro‑physiology and nuclear cardiology.

What you can expect from this role

The Device Nurse will provide thorough, competent interrogations and reprogramming of cardiac devices implanted in patients, including, but not limited to Pacemakers, Implantable Loop Recorders, and Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator's.

This will include enrollments in Device Management Systems and device interrogations completed in outpatient settings as well as remotely monitored patients. Also, triages the patients for remote alert notifications.

Performs telephone triage for cardiac patients and device question phone calls. Assist the cardiologists in managing device recalls and alerts. Liaison with cardiac device company representatives regarding device upgrades, recalls and alerts.

Accurately identifies malfunctions, alerts, and sub‑optimal device operations and follows appropriate protocols with making programming changes and notifying physicians.

The Device Nurse will complete initial interrogations, report generation, charges, and documentation in the Electronic Health Record and Device Management Systems as well as bring acute/urgent issues to the attention of providers.

Performs incisions/wound assessments on new device patients and removes stitches/staples as appropriate.

The Device Nurse collaborates with Cardiologists, Electrophysiologists, Advanced practitioners, cardiac device technologists and other members of the patient care team to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.

Provides education to patients and their significant other regarding basic pacemaker function; follow‑up care needed; medications; process steps for in‑clinic visits and remote device transmissions; and other clinical care needs.

Schedule: 4 - 9 hour shifts per week; no weekends.

Role may require traveling to Boise and other SL locations occasionally.

Qualifications

• Education: Nursing Degree

• Experience: 1 years’ experience

• Licenses/Certifications: Current RN licensure from the State of Practice AND Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Safety and Health Institute, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience in telemetry, general cardiology, or critical care

• ECG, arrhythmia/dysrhythmia knowledge

• Effective communicator and excellent critical thinking skills needed
