Misericordia Heart of Mercy is seeking a Developmental Training Nurse to support adults with IDD during daytime programming. You will serve as the clinical point person, manage scheduled medications, assess residents, and triage needs within a structured daytime environment.
Ideal candidates are licensed RNs or LPNs in Illinois with strong assessment and communication skills, the ability to prioritize multiple needs independently, and a commitment to person-centered care and teamwork.
Looking for a nursing role with a school-nurse feel? At Misericordia, the Developmental Training (DT) Nurse is a unique nursing assignment supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities while they participate in their daytime programming. Much like a school nurse, you serve as the clinical point person during the program day: managing scheduled medications, assessing residents who become ill or have a medical concern, triaging needs, and communicating important information back to the resident's primary/area nurse. Rather than carrying a traditional inpatient or long-term-care assignment, you support residents as they take part in their daily programming and help ensure that medical needs arising during the day are appropriately assessed, addressed, and communicated back to their residential nursing team.
Misericordia is committed to helping employees continue to learn and grow. Developmental Training Nurses have access to professional training and development opportunities designed to strengthen their skills and support career growth throughout the organization. You will work with experienced professionals across Misericordia while gaining hands-on experience supporting people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Misericordia Heart of Mercy is home to more than 600 children and adults with mild to profound developmental disabilities. Our community provides a supportive environment designed to maximize each resident's potential while meeting their individual needs. Many of the people we serve also have physical disabilities and require specialized care. At Misericordia, every member of our team plays an important role in creating a community where residents can thrive. Misericordia is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) according to Title 44, Ill. Administrative Code, and Subpart C Section 750.150.
