Job summary

May Institute’s May Center for Early Intervention in Massachusetts seeks an Early Intervention Developmental Specialist to partner with families of infants and toddlers to support developmental growth. Through home visits, community-based services, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, you’ll help children build the skills they need to thrive.

You’ll deliver family-centered services, lead IFSP coordination, monitor progress, and maintain accurate documentation to ensure high-quality,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in child development, special education, early childhood education, or a related field is required.
  • At least 300 hours of practicum or work experience with children under age five.
  • Ability to work well in a team and with families.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver home and community-based visits using developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed strategies.
  • Support children in fully participating in inclusive community settings with typical peers.
  • Conduct telehealth sessions as needed.
  • Lead IFSP coordination and progress monitoring with families.
  • Coordinate services identified in the IFSP and monitor outcomes.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field

Early Intervention Developmental Specialist

As an Early Intervention Developmental Specialist,you’llpartner with families of infants and toddlers (birth–3) to support developmental growth during the most critical years of life. Through home visits, community-based services, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams,you’llhelp children build the skills they need to thrive.

WhatYou’llDo
Deliver family-centered services
  • Provide home and community-based visits using developmentallyappropriate, evidence-informed strategies
  • Support children in fullyparticipatingin inclusive community settings with typical peers
  • Conduct telehealth sessions as needed
Lead IFSP coordination and progress monitoring
  • Partner with families to develop, implement, and update Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs)
  • Coordinate services and supportsidentifiedin the IFSP
  • Monitor functional outcomes and complete six-month reviews and required documentation
  • Assistwith transition planning at least six months prior to discharge, including referrals and participation in IEP meetings when applicable
Collaborate and advocate
  • Serve as a liaison between families, ancillary providers, and school systems
  • Participate in multidisciplinary assessments and team meetings
  • Ensure services and communication are culturally and linguistically responsive
Maintain compliance and documentation
  • Complete session notes andrequiredpaperwork within established timelines
  • Maintainaccuraterecords for assigned children
  • Follow DPH and organizational standards for documentation, confidentiality, and training

  • Minimum of four approved 3-credit courses focused on infants and toddlers
  • At least300 hoursof practicum or work experience with children under age five
  • Works well as part of a team
Preferred
  • Experience in home-based or community-based early intervention services
  • Knowledge of IFSP development and transition planning
