Job summary

The City of Peoria's Development and Engineering Department is offering a Development Technician I role to support development processes. You will interact with the public, construction professionals, and City staff, assisting with building, engineering, and fire development services, including permitting and fee inquiries.

Ideal candidates will have 1–2 years in construction trades or permitting, strong communication skills, and experience with permit tracking systems.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED plus additional course work (equivalent to up to 1 year at a Community College or equivalent resulting in accumulation of similar knowledge and abilities).
Experience: 1-2 years technical experience in construction trades or permitting environment is desired.
Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Responsibilities

Accepting and reviewing plans
Issuing permits
Explaining City processes and procedures
Responding to questions and concernsTracking permit applications through to completion
Monitoring the permit process to ensure accuracy and efficiency
Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support departmental operations
