Job summary

The California State University invites applications for the Executive Director of Development at San José State University. Reporting to the AVP for Development, the role leads a team of fundraising professionals responsible for major gifts, capital campaigns and events, while managing a significant prospect portfolio.

The successful candidate will build strategic donor relationships, guide campaign priorities, and collaborate across campuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; seven years of fundraising experience.
• Proven ability to solicit and close gifts.
• Experience leading teams or personnel in fundraising.

Responsibilities

• Oversee fundraising for colleges and units, set priorities and goals.
• Meet with directors of development regularly to provide leadership and guidance.
• Evaluate performance of direct reports annually.
• Coordinate with prospect management to solicit and steward supporters.
• Engage in university fundraising activities on- and off-campus.
