Job summary

ALSAC is seeking a Development Specialist to drive peer-to-peer fundraising, sponsorship solicitations, and radio telethon support for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

You will build relationships with volunteers, donors, and sponsors, lead national initiatives, and manage events, marketing, and recruitment efforts. A hybrid schedule is available at our New York Territory Office.

Qualifications

• 3 years fundraising, sales, marketing or related experience.
• Working knowledge of social media platforms and digital channels.
• Analytical skills with data review and performance tracking.
• Excellent communication, organizational and public speaking abilities.
• Face-to-face interaction with volunteers and sponsors; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Exceed financial and stewardship targets set by regional leadership.

Job Description

Join our team as a Development Specialist and make a significant impact in the world of fundraising while championing peer-to-peer fundraising, event sponsorship solicitations, and radio telethon support. Your role will be pivotal in propelling ALSAC's mission to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Development Specialist, you will:

• Exceed Financial Goals: Go above and beyond to surpass the financial and stewardship targets established by regional leadership.
• Forge Meaningful Relationships: Utilize your exceptional interpersonal and sales skills to cultivate authentic connections with volunteers, donors, and sponsors, primarily through face-to-face interactions.
• Empower Fundraising Initiatives: Motivate, guide, and equip fundraising efforts by leveraging various communication channels, including personal visits, written correspondence, and digital platforms.
• Lead National Initiatives: Take charge of high-profile national fundraising projects in the region, such as St. Jude Dream Home campaigns, radiothons, school-based events, promotional programs, multicultural initiatives, fitness events, and peer-to-peer events.
• Personalized Cultivation: Create tailored cultivation plans for volunteers, donors, and sponsors through personalized thank-you letters, in-person visits, donor appreciation events, and consistent follow-up.
• Event Management: Oversee and nurture relationships with volunteers, donors, and sponsors for events and programs within your portfolio. This includes coordinating event logistics, maintaining vendor contacts, and meticulous recordkeeping.
• Sponsorship Expertise: Champion the pursuit of leads, pitch sponsorships/recruitment, and close deals. Conduct thorough prospect research on potential sponsors, craft compelling sponsorship proposals, and maintain up-to-date contact lists.
• Marketing and Recruitment: Lead event, promotion, and partnership efforts as the primary staff member. Develop and execute marketing and recruitment strategies for events.
• Active Participation: Engage actively in events to ensure their success.
• Market Insight: Stay well-informed about market trends and regional developments to identify new opportunities.
• Reporting: Deliver necessary reports, progress updates, and forecasts to support the decision-making process.
• Collaborative Contribution: Play a role in regional meetings and contribute to the budgeting process.
• Travel: Periodically, travel to support events and business needs in assigned areas.

Qualifications and Experience

• 3 years of fundraising, sales, marketing, or related experience. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Working knowledge of social media platforms, including experience creating content, engaging audiences, and using digital channels to support communication and business objectives.
• Analytical skills, with the ability to review data, identify trends, track performance metrics, and apply insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in fundraising and public relations, exceptional communication, organizational, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
• Proven experience in face-to-face interaction with event volunteers and sponsors.
• Competence in data processing applications.
• A valid driver's license is required for this role.

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule to include working from our Territory Office located at 60 East 42nd Street, Suite 1250 New York, NY 10165.

To comply with pay transparency laws, ALSAC is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is an estimate offered in good faith and considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At ALSAC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is 73,500.00 - 83,500.00
