Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking an entry-level engineer to draft and update 2D/3D CAD drawings for plant layout changes and CapEx projects. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver results on site modifications, mechanical upgrades, and infrastructure developments.

You’ll compile engineering calculations, BOMs, and cost estimates, and perform routine field inspections. A BS in Civil, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering is strongly preferred, with willingness to travel for project

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues.
• Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills.
• Advanced computer skills, including spreadsheets, Google Suite and Microsoft Office, are required.
• Some experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Strong interpersonal skills and resourcefulness.
• Detail oriented; follows through with commitments and solves problems in a timely fashion.
• Willingness to travel for project needs.

Responsibilities

• Learn to draft, design, and update 2D & 3D CAD drawings for processing plant layouts.
• Support site CapEx projects including structural modifications, mechanical upgrades, and infrastructure developments.
• Collaborate with welding, fabrication, Process Control, Electrical groups to deliver projects.
• Prepare BOMs, project estimates, and cost assessments for review by senior staff.
• Conduct routine field inspections and assess structural site conditions.
• Shadow Project Engineers during audits of plant crushing, screening, washing, and conveying systems.
• Assist in reliability evaluations and critical asset planning for operations facilities.
• Coordinate with external contractors, equipment vendors, and field personnel on site projects.
• Prepare project status reports, technical docs, and meeting minutes for cross-functional teams.
• Assist in other engineering duties to support quarry production goals.
