Job summary

Dhar Mann Studios in California seeks a Development Producer to lead IP development from concept to release across digital, SVOD, and traditional platforms. You will ideate, develop, and produce original scripted concepts, expanding existing IP into repeatable series while maintaining brand voice.

  • Minimum of 3+ years in scripted development within the film and television industry, preferably in a Creative Executive, Lead Writer, or Producer role.
  • Experience ideating and writing long‑form scripted series for diverse platforms (SVOD, FAST, digital, creator‑led, youth, family, or female‑skewing audiences).
  • Fluency with digital platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, SVOD/AVOD/FAST) and audience retention mechanics.

Development Producer

We are seeking a dynamic Development Producer with a background across digital, SVOD, vertical, traditional, and streaming spaces. This highly creative role requires experience in IP development from concept to release and reports directly to the Head of Vertical Content.

About the Role

The Development Producer focuses on ideating, developing, and producing original scripted concepts, expanding existing IP, and overseeing the entire development lifecycle across our digital and emerging traditional platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Ideate, develop, and produce original scripted concepts and expand existing IP into repeatable series with strong audience hooks and franchise value.
  • Compose pitches, loglines, treatments, beat sheets, outlines, pitch decks, and long‑form scripts against daily and weekly deadlines.
  • Translate ideas across formats, including short‑form/social, digital episodic, and linear/traditional development.
  • Facilitate “writer’s rooms,” manage creatives, and grow diverse teams that work effectively and efficiently.
  • Track platform trends, audience behavior, viewer feedback, and story formats to incorporate learnings into greenlighting decisions.
  • Analyze retaining and packaging requirements for each content platform to ensure our creative is natively built.
  • Partner with production to guarantee concepts are executable at cost‑effective budgets while keeping the IP vision consistent from concept through execution.
  • Build a pipeline of commercially viable content that aligns with brand voice.
  • Be highly responsive in an extremely fast‑moving development environment where priorities shift quickly.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3+ years in scripted development within the film and television industry, preferably as a Creative Executive, Lead Writer, or Producer.
  • Experience ideating and writing long‑form scripted series for diverse platforms (SVOD, FAST, digital, creator‑led, youth, family, or female‑skewing audiences); portfolio or samples required.
  • Deep experience adapting ideas to different platforms and audience demographics, with instincts for entertainment across digital and traditional settings.
  • Fluency in digital platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, vertical microdrama, SVOD/AVOD/FAST, audience retention mechanics, thumbnail/title/hook mentality, and creator‑led programming).
  • Experience working with small, fast teams and delivering under compressed timelines.
  • Comfort wearing multiple hats: writer, creative producer, development partner, story editor.
  • Strong organizational follow‑through.
  • Budget consciousness and practical production judgment.
  • Alignment with the company’s mission‑driven, high‑output, collaborative, and audience‑focused culture.
Reporting and Oversight

The Development Producer reports directly to Erin McFarlane, Head of Vertical Content, and currently has no full‑time personnel reporting directly to them.

Location and Schedule

All work takes place at our new studio in Burbank, CA / Chatsworth, CA. The typical work schedule is Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
