Job description

Manufacturing Process Engineer II

Provides support to the Manufacturing and Product Development organization to facilitate efficient operations within the production area, optimize new and existing processes, and ensure that production goals are met. Monitors and develops the performance of equipment, machines, and tools, and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields, or product quality issues. Interfaces with Quality and Research & Development organizations to integrate new products or processes into existing and new manufacturing areas.

Core Job Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  2. Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes, for current programs, next-generation programs, and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company. Prepares reports, publishes, and makes presentations to communicate findings.
  3. Analyzes and solves problems from basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts through to complex and advanced problems requiring innovative approaches or breakthroughs in technology.
  4. Understands engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices, and techniques. Develops expertise to become a recognized leader in a specialized area and applies this knowledge in leadership roles.
  5. Incorporates business policies and procedures into task completion. Understands the business needs of the company and customer needs. Follows the business cycle and stays informed of emerging technology trends.
  6. Cultivates internal and external networks of resources. Serves as a resource in the selection, orientation, and training of new engineers and employees. May lead project teams, setting goals and objectives. Mentors employees by sharing expertise and providing feedback.
  7. Interacts cross-functionally and with internal and external customers. Acts as a consultant for engineering or scientific interpretations and advice on significant matters. Serves as a spokesperson to customers regarding current and future capabilities of the business unit.
Supervision and Influence

Work is closely supervised with specific, detailed instructions. Begins developing a network of internal resources to facilitate task completion. Influence is typically exerted at the peer level. Completes daily work to meet schedules with guidance on prioritization. May exercise authority within pre-established limits; failure to achieve results can be managed without serious impact on schedules or programs.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree plus 2-5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic understanding of the specified functional area, with limited independent decision-making and problem-solving skills within a quality system environment.
