Job summary

City of DeSoto seeks an experienced Planner to assist the Planning Manager in administering zoning and subdivision ordinances, coordinating the development review process, preparing plans and studies, and guiding developers, builders and the public.

Responsibilities include reviewing plats and site plans, writing staff reports, presenting to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council, meeting with stakeholders, preparing amendments, reviewing Certificates of Occupancy, and performing

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning or related field.
Five years of related experience.
AICP certification preferred; or equivalent training/experience.
Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

Review plats and site plans for conformance with zoning and subdivision ordinances.
Write staff reports for zoning requests and plats and present to commissions/city council.
Meet with developers, builders and the public to answer questions about ordinances and the development process.
Prepare plans and studies and amendments to zoning/subdivision ordinances and the Comprehensive Plan.
Review Certificates of Occupancy to ensure compliance with zoning requirements and contact applicants as needed.
Perform other assigned duties.
