Job summary

City of South Fulton is seeking a professional planner to perform current planning, zoning review, and site plan analysis. You will meet with developers, review plats, and ensure compliance with land development ordinances and zoning codes.

The role requires handling planning projects, coordinating with departments, and preparing agendas for planning and council meetings while engaging with the public on ordinance interpretations and land-use issues.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the principles, practices, and trends in Community Development and Land Disturbance operations.
• Knowledge of permits and zoning processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
• Ability to coordinate complex, multi‑phase projects and programs.
• Ability to prepare agendas and review contracts.

Responsibilities

• Follow and promote policies and procedures of the City of South Fulton.
• Inform and advise Department Director on department issues.
• Provide advice, support, and information to other department heads and the public.
• Perform current planning, building, and site plan review duties as necessary.
• Meet with developers to review plans and plats for compliance with zoning codes.
• Review and recommend approval of preliminary and final plats.
• Prepare and resolve zoning, annexation, and variance related matters.
• Coordinate meetings with other departments and prepare planning council materials.
• Assist with public meetings and provide information on zoning and land-use matters.
