Job summary

The City of Peoria, AZ, seeks a Development Technician I to support the development process by providing technical assistance to citizens, developers, and City staff. You will handle plans, permits, and permit-related inquiries, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.

Ideal candidates are customer-focused, capable of multi-tasking, experienced with permit tracking systems, and has some municipal/government experience. This is a full-time, on-site position with comprehensive city benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework/education to equivalent of up to 1 year at a community college or similar.
• 1–2 years of technical experience in construction trades or permitting environment preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience to fulfil the knowledge/abilities for the role.

Responsibilities

• Accept and review plans and issued permits.
• Explain City processes and procedures to applicants.
• Answer questions and concerns and track permit applications through to completion.
• Monitor the permit process for accuracy and efficiency.
• Additional duties may be assigned to support departmental operations.
