Job description

Our client, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana, is growing again! Some people are naturally good at making others feel seen, valued, and connected. If you’re one of them—and you know how to turn strong relationships into lasting support for a mission—you may be exactly who we’re looking for. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana (RMHCCIN) is looking for a Development Officer to help us strengthen and grow the community of donors who make our work possible. This is a relationship-driven fundraising role for someone who enjoys getting to know people, understanding what matters to them, and finding meaningful ways to connect their interests with a mission that changes lives. You’ll have the opportunity to both shape how we steward our donors and manage your own portfolio of individual and corporate supporters and prospects. From thoughtful thank-yous and personal outreach to donor meetings, tours, cultivation opportunities, and gift conversations, you’ll help ensure our supporters know the impact they’re making and want to stay connected for years to come.

What you’ll do

You’ll own and continuously improve RMHCCIN’s donor stewardship program, creating thoughtful and personalized ways to recognize, engage, and retain supporters.

You’ll also:

  • Build genuine relationships with individual and corporate donors and prospects.
  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level and major-gift relationships through regular calls, emails, meetings, and meaningful follow-up.
  • Identify new prospects and develop strategies to move relationships from initial interest to deeper engagement and increased giving.
  • Ask for gifts that align donor interests with RMHCCIN priorities.
  • Develop donor touchpoints such as impact communications, milestone recognition, tours, and small stewardship gatherings.
  • Engage board members, volunteers, and staff in cultivation and stewardship.
  • Partner with marketing and program staff to tell compelling stories about the impact donors make possible.
  • Support corporate partners through relationship-building, volunteer engagement, and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Keep donor activity and pipeline information organized and current in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
You might be a great fit if...

You have 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, sales, relationship management, or a related field and a track record of building relationships people want to continue. Your background doesn't necessarily need to follow a traditional nonprofit fundraising path. We’d especially like to hear from people who have experience in donor relations, annual giving, corporate engagement, community development, sponsorship, relationship-based sales, or other roles where you’ve been responsible for cultivating relationships and generating support.

You’re likely someone who:
  • Builds trust easily and genuinely enjoys connecting with people.
  • Knows that successful fundraising is about relationships, not transactions.
  • Is comfortable initiating conversations and making an ask.
  • Follows through and pays attention to the details.
  • Can manage multiple relationships and priorities without losing the personal touch.
  • Communicates clearly and can make an organization’s impact come alive.
  • Brings emotional intelligence, empathy, discretion, and professionalism to your work.
  • Enjoys collaborating with others while taking ownership of your own goals.
  • Wants your work to have a meaningful impact.
Why RMHCCIN?

At RMHCCIN, relationships are at the heart of what we do—with the families we serve, the volunteers who give their time, and the donors and partners whose generosity makes our mission possible.

This is an opportunity to do more than maintain a donor list. You’ll help build a donor experience that makes people feel genuinely connected to the mission while developing relationships that can grow over time. And you'll join a collaborative, positive, mission-focused team that believes how we work with people matters just as much as the results we achieve.

We know great candidates don't always check every box. If this role excites you and you believe your experience and perspective could add value to RMHCCIN.
