About Us

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana (RMHCCIN) is seeking a relationship-driven, thoughtful, and mission-focused professional to join our development team as a Development Officer.

This role is central to how we care for and grow our community of supporters. The Development Officer will lead and execute a comprehensive donor stewardship program - ensuring every donor feels valued, connected, and inspired by the impact of their giving. In addition, this role will manage a portfolio of individual and corporate donors and prospects, building meaningful relationships that deepen engagement and increase philanthropic support over time.

Duties & Responsibilities
Donor Stewardship & Experience
  • Own and continuously improve RMHCCIN's donor stewardship program, setting annual strategy, evaluating effectiveness, and recommending enhancements to the CAO.
  • Design and implement meaningful, timely, and personalized donor touchpoints (thank-you communications, impact reports, video communications, milestone recognition).
  • Engage volunteers, board members, and staff in the donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship process.
  • Ensure donors at all levels feel informed, appreciated, and connected to the mission.
  • Partner with marketing/communications to align messaging and storytelling.
  • Oversee and enhance donor engagement opportunities such as tours and small stewardship gatherings.
Relationship Management & Fundraising
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of individual and corporate donors and prospects at the mid-level and major gift range, maintaining consistent and meaningful contact with each.
  • Build and maintain authentic relationships through regular, personalized outreach (calls, emails, meetings).
  • Conduct timely and thoughtful follow-up with current donors to deepen engagement and strengthen retention.
  • Proactively identify and attract new prospects; develop and execute moves management strategies to advance donors through the giving cycle from first gift to major gift consideration.
  • Solicit gifts in alignment with organizational priorities and donor interest.
  • Support cultivation and stewardship strategies for corporate partners, including volunteer engagement and sponsorship alignment.
Collaboration & Team Support
  • Work closely with the development team to align stewardship and fundraising strategies across campaigns and initiatives.
  • Partner with program staff to understand and communicate impact.
  • Maintain accurate, timely donor records and contact reports in Raiser's Edge NXT; contribute to portfolio reporting and pipeline updates for the CAO on a regular cadence.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, positive, and mission-focused team culture.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, sales, relationship management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey impact in a compelling and accessible way.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of responsiveness.
  • High level of personal integrity and proven experience in maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
  • Comfortable communicating with diverse individuals and groups (cultural and social).
  • Passion for the mission of RMHCCIN.
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those an individual must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working on a personal computer and to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, good hearing, ability to taste and smell, and dexterity required.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Perform work on uneven and wet surfaces.
  • Ability to climb a ladder occasionally and maneuver two flights of stairs at a time.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and bend for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use your hands to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record to operate company vehicles.
  • Ability to drive/sit in a vehicle to travel between work locations.
  • Ability to travel by car or plane with the possibility of overnight hotel stays (less than 10%).
