Job summary

Cloudshape is seeking a Development Manager / Senior Software Engineer to lead a software engineering team in Washington DC and deliver complex solutions. This role requires US citizenship and an active Secret security clearance, with a 10-year contract on a funded project.

The candidate will balance leadership with hands-on work across modern tech stacks. Responsibilities include mentoring engineers, setting priorities with stakeholders, and driving lifecycle modernization while maintaining

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 12+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience managing and leading software engineering teams.
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Java, Spring, ASP.NET MVC, Razor/Blazor, PHP, or Drupal.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective engineering solutions.
• Experience implementing or modernizing iterative/Agile software development processes.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, technical design, and engineering best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
• US Citizen with an active secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of software engineers, including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, coaching, performance reviews, and offboarding.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers in resolving complex technical challenges and removing project blockers.
• Balance strategic leadership responsibilities with hands-on technical work, stepping into complex engineering challenges when necessary to support successful project delivery.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain applications using Node.js, TypeScript, Java, Spring, ASP.NET MVC, Razor/Blazor, PHP, and Drupal.
• Lead software development lifecycle modernization efforts using iterative development practices.
• Establish processes that promote clarity, accountability, measurable progress, and successful project delivery.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership to establish priorities, evaluate technical approaches, manage risks, and achieve project objectives.
• Contribute to technical design, architecture, code reviews, and software engineering best practices.
• Maintain effective knowledge management by documenting technical solutions, processes, and project decisions.

This person will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for providing software engineering expertise, leading development teams, and delivering complex software solutions.

To be considered for this position, US Citizenship and an active Secret security clearance is required. This is a funded position on a 10-year contract and is contingent upon verification of a security clearance prior to starting with Cloudshape.
