Autism New Jersey is seeking a Development Manager to oversee fundraising operations and drive data-informed decisions. You will lead the annual giving program, manage community and golf fundraising events, and collaborate on grants and donor communications.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of an annual giving program to engage donors and strengthen the annual giving pipeline (focus on donors of $1-999).
• Manage community fundraising event program, supporting community fundraisers and volunteers.
• Oversee golf event fundraising activities, sponsorships, and communications.
• Support grant development, applications, and deliverables in collaboration with the Development Director.
• Develop fundraising communications with the Communications team, highlighting impact stories.
• Design and execute multi-channel fundraising campaigns across email, web, social, and print.
• Monitor campaign performance to optimize donor acquisition, retention, and renewal.
• Maintain digital fundraising calendar aligned with organizational priorities.
• Analyze fundraising performance and donor data to inform decisions and forecast revenue.
• Identify risks, capacity gaps, and process improvements; propose practical solutions.

Position

Development Manager

Summary

Reporting to the Development Director, the Development Manager oversees fundraising operations to ensure strong stewardship, effective execution, and data-informed decision-making to achieve the team’s fundraising and stewardship goals.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising operations, or project management
• Demonstrated experience managing donor databases, prospect pipelines, and fundraising systems
• Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
• Ability to analyze data, track KPIs, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Bloomerang), donation platforms, financial tracking, and standard office software

Desired Qualifications

• Experience managing mid-level donor programs and prospect strategy
• Familiarity with nonprofit financial processes, acknowledgements, and reconciliation
• Experience leading peer-to-peer or ambassador-style fundraising programs
• Experience coordinating fundraising events and committees
• Background working collaboratively across development, finance, communications, and program teams

Responsibilities

Fundraising & Revenue Generation

• Lead the execution of an annual giving program to engage donors, increasing philanthropic participation, and strengthening the annual giving pipeline (with focus on donors of $1-999).
• Manage community fundraising event program including supporting community fundraisers, attending events, and developing volunteer resources.

• Manage all fundraising aspects of the golf event including committee meetings and communications, sponsorship fundraising, benefits fulfillment, and other fundraising activities

• In collaboration with the Development Director, support grant development, applications, and deliverables.
• In collaboration with the Communications team, develop strategic fundraising communications including impact stories.

Digital Fundraising Strategy & Campaigns

• Design and execute multi-channel fundraising campaigns across email, web, social, and print.
• Develop digital fundraising assets including emails, landing pages, donation forms, and campaign materials.
• Plan and implement giving day campaigns and other small-dollar fundraising initiatives.
• Monitor and analyze campaign performance to optimize donor acquisition, retention, and renewal.
• Test and implement new approaches to digital fundraising and audience engagement.
• Maintain a coordinated digital fundraising calendar aligned with organizational priorities.

Department Management

• Serve as a strategic thought partner to executive leadership, translating organizational priorities into clear, achievable fundraising goals and plans
• In collaboration with the Development Director, design, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive development strategy encompassing individual giving, grants, corporate partnerships, events, and campaigns
• In collaboration with the Development Director, manage operations infrastructure, including CRM/database management, gift processing, acknowledgements, reporting, and compliance
• Analyze fundraising performance and donor data to inform decision-making, forecast revenue, and identify growth opportunities
• Support the Development Director’s interdepartmental collaboration to align fundraising initiatives with programmatic impact, communications, and organizational capacity
• Develop and manage project budgets, timelines, and workflows, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and efficiency
• Ensure all development activities meet ethical standards, funder requirements, and organizational policies
• Proactively identify risks, capacity gaps, and process inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions

Other Development Activities

• Consult with communications team on the marketing campaign and social media fundraising elements as needed

Universal Responsibilities

• Maintain all relevant professional standards, including ethics, confidentiality, and applicable certifications and licenses.
• Represent Autism New Jersey in the community where appropriate.
• Participate in agency events and any other activities as directed by your supervisor.
• Collaborate with other departments on various projects to support the mission and vision of Autism New Jersey.
• Provide superior customer service by phone, email, and in person.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Development Director, Operations Director, or Executive Director

Notes

• This is a 40-hour per week position that is exempt from overtime rules. The work week is typically Monday - Friday 8am-5pm and subject to approval by the Executive Director. The schedule may occasionally include weekends and evenings and vary depending on the needs of the agency.
