Job summary

Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF) is seeking a Development Manager to lead donor relations, corporate sponsorships, and mid-level giving programs in Washington County, PA.

The role focuses on building and sustaining strategic relationships, designing development plans, and collaborating with the Communications team to share impact, while supervising the Donor Services Associate and supporting board committees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive development, donor relations, or related experience.
• Supervisory experience preferred; foundation experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans.
• Build and expand mid-level giving and sponsorship programs.
• Create donor communications and messaging with the Communications team.
• Maintain accurate donor records and reporting on portfolio activity.
• Provide staff support for Board committees and supervise the Donor Services Associate.
• Contribute to community engagement and educational outreach to nonprofits.

Our Development Manager leads the effort to build and deepen the Foundation's relationships with supporters, specifically mid-level donors and corporate sponsors, helping design and grow the development program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

Relationship Management

• Relationship Management – Develop and execute personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans.
• Program Building – Help to enhance the Foundation's mid-level giving and sponsorship programs.
• Messaging & Donor Communications – Craft messaging that communicates the Foundation's impact; Write and refine appeals, stewardship communications, proposals, and sponsorship materials; Partner with the Communications team to ensure donor-facing messaging aligns with the Foundation's broader brand and marketing strategy.

Program Development & Performance

• Data & Systems – Maintain accurate donor and sponsor records in the CRM; recommend systems and processes.
• Performance Measurement – Track and report on portfolio activity, moves management, and progress toward relationship and revenue goals.

Community Engagement

• Community Representation – Serve as a Foundation representative at community and nonprofit events; build relationships with local nonprofit leaders and community stakeholders.
• Education & Technical Assistance – Develop and deliver educational content (workshops, guides, presentations) and provide individualized technical assistance to local nonprofits.

Committee Support

• Provide staff support for related Board committees, which includes but is not limited to meeting preparation, hosting, and minutes.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• The Development Manager shall supervise the Donor Services Associate.

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned; work evenings, weekends, or extended hours as required to fulfill essential functions; support Foundation strategic initiatives and special projects as needed.

Supervisory skills; outstanding relationship-building and communication skills; strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines; ability to function independently or as an active team member; comfort creating educational content and presenting to groups; CRM/database proficiency; ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or other related field preferred. At least 5 years of progressive experience in development, donor relations, account management, or a related relationship-focused field required; supervisory experience preferred; foundation experience a plus.
