Job summary

Historic Oakland Foundation is seeking a qualified intern to work within and contribute to our Development team during the fall 2026 semester. The 16-week internship offers $15 per hour, with 15–20 hours per week and occasional evenings or weekends for events, in-person at the Visitor Center in Atlanta.

Duties include CRM maintenance, recording memberships and donations, donor communications, fundraising materials, event planning, membership recruitment, research, and data entry to support

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Experience with databases/CRM systems preferred (Salesforce or similar).
  • Discretion handling sensitive information and donor data.
  • Hospitality/concierge-like customer service is a plus.
  • Connections within Atlanta cultural community are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain and update CRM.
  • Assist recording membership details and donations.
  • Assist Development staff with day-to-day communications with donors.
  • Draft fundraising and stewardship materials.
  • Plan and coordinate events and member recruitment at events.
  • Recruit new members through tabling at events.
  • Research prospects and initiatives for the Development team.
  • General administrative duties and data entry.
  • Support member retention through stewardship activities.

Job description

Historic Oakland Foundation is seeking a qualified intern to work within and contribute to our Development team during the fall 2026 semester.

The position will be part-time temporary, with some nights and weekends required. Academic credit can be arranged. The internship spans a range of responsibilities in the Development department, including maintaining records, reporting, administrative communications, CRM data entry, researching partnership opportunities, recruiting for membership at special events and tabling events, and retention of current membership base.

College or Graduate students studying English, Business, Communications, Data Analytics, Marketing, Public and/or Non-profit Administration are encouraged to apply.

Timeline

16-week internship, target dates Mon Aug 31 to Fri Dec 18, but flexibility can be discussed with candidates based on their semester.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Help maintain and update CRM
  • Assist with recording membership details and donations
  • Assist Development staff in organizing day-to-day and monthly communications with individual and corporate donors
  • Assist Development staff in drafting materials for fundraising and stewardship
  • Assist Development staff in event planning and coordination
  • Assist in recruiting new members through tabling at internal events and community events
  • Research projects, prospects, and initiatives for the Development team
  • Perform general administrative duties to assist Development staff, to include general mailing and data entry
  • Focus on member retention through stewardship, including phone calls and emails
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience working with databases a plus, with Salesforce or similar CRM experience preferred
  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive issues and information
  • Hospitality and concierge-style skills a plus
  • Networking skills and/or connections through Atlanta cultural spheres a plus
Commitment:

Part-time: 15 to 20 hours per week, with weekend or evening work for events required occasionally.

In-person at Historic Oakland Foundation’s Visitor Center office, days of week flexible and to be determined by discussion between candidates and Development Director.

Compensation:

$15 per hour
