Job summary

Ulteig Engineers, Inc. is seeking a capable engineer with 4–6+ years of experience in civil, mechanical, or electrical design, preferably in utility-scale renewables.

A PE license or ability to obtain it within six months is required, with strong AutoCAD/Civil 3D and MS Office skills. The role involves client engagement, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and value engineering in a flexible work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Applies engineering techniques to complete tasks and support civil, structural, and electrical design workflows.
  • Develops plans, details, and reports that are complete and accurate for early-stage utility-scale renewables development.
  • Works closely with engineering technicians and design engineers.
  • Engages with clients to understand priorities and plan project goals.
  • Checks designs and computations, promotes high quality designs and constructability reviews.
  • Maintains a value engineering mindset throughout design.
  • Collaborates across markets and disciplines with staff and clients.
  • Supports marketing, sales and business development in assigned markets.
  • Demonstrates creativity and design ownership.

Job description

What You'll Do
  • Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to complete engineering tasks, and supports other civil, structural, and electrical design workflows as necessary on a case-by‑case basis.
  • Develops plans, details, and reports that are complete, accurate and in accordance with sound utility-scale renewables early‑stage development engineering practices.
  • Works closely with and provides guidance to engineering technicians and design engineers.
  • Engages with clients to understand their priorities, relying on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish project goals while exceeding client expectations.
  • Checks design and computations performed by internal design team and provides ideas and executes to promote higher quality designs. · Reviews development plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk considerations.
  • Maintains a value engineering mindset throughout design.
  • Works closely with business and engineering staff across multiple markets and technical disciplines.
  • Works closely with clients to understand nuanced technical needs and identify best feasible solution(s).
  • Supports marketing, sales and business development activities within assigned market.
  • Demonstrates a wide degree of out‑of‑the‑box thinking, creativity, and design ownership.
What We Expect from You
  • B.S. in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent is required.
  • Successful Completion of Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, is required, NCEES Council Record is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4‑6+ years of relevant engineering experience, with at least 3+ years of experience in design of utility scale renewables preferred.
  • Experience in civil land development or electrical power systems design as an alternative to renewables experience strongly considered.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D is required.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in US.

Additional Opportunity Details:
Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $99,200 - $134,100*
* Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your job specific skills, education, training, job location, number of years of experience related to this role and comparison to other employees already in this role
