Job summary

Garrett Motion in Plymouth, MI seeks a Product Development Engineer to lead new product development and applications with end-to-end responsibility for launches, performance, cost, reliability and timing.

You will own design and validation activities, interface with customers as the launch lead, and drive APQP, PPAP, and cross-functional teamwork in a fast-moving, agile environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience developing and launching automotive products.
  • Proven track record with product validation and launch experience.
  • Experience with direct customer interface.
  • Strong communications skills and sense of urgency.
  • Team player, growth and customer focus.

Responsibilities

  • End to End Product Ownership, meeting all turbocharger functional requirements (Performance, Reliability, Quality, Costs & Timing) to meet engine specifications.
  • Customer Interface - Single Point of Contact to Customer for Launch.
  • Matching, Design, Simulation, Validation (DVP&R), Turbo Release (TRA).
  • Accountable for Internal & External APQP on full BOM - Sign off turbo, component PPAP deviations (APQP output).
  • Accountable for 2D & 3D creation and quality according to documented Design Standards & guidelines.
  • Ensure proper application & use of standard Design processes & tools, as defined by functional matrix.
  • Support Design quality issue investigations (8D's) and lead implementation of corrective actions

Job description

As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for launching new product development and new applications at the customer and developing top down functional requirement and design, simulate and qualify full product to meet customer needs. You will have end to end responsibility for flawless launch, with performance / cost / reliability / APQP and timing.

Responsibilities Include
  • End to End Product Ownership, meeting all turbocharger functional requirements (Performance, Reliability, Quality, Costs & Timing) to meet engine specifications

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
  • 3+ years of experience with developing and/or launching products in the automotive or similar industry
  • Proven track record with product validation and launch experience as well as product development and component design in automotive industry
  • Experience with direct customer interface
  • Strong communications skills and sense of urgency
  • Team player, growth and customer focus
