Job summary

Parks & People seeks a Director of Development to lead the fundraising program and development staff in achieving annual goals. The role includes managing major gifts, grants, sponsorships, and an upcoming endowment campaign, working closely with the CEO to expand support from Baltimore’s philanthropic community.

The position requires at least seven years of fundraising leadership, strong donor relations, and proven ability to guide data-driven strategies across campaigns and events.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of development experience with a track record of securing six-figure gifts, grants and awards.
• Knowledge of the Baltimore philanthropic landscape and established donor networks.
• Dynamic and engaging with major donors.
• Leadership experience building a collaboration-oriented team of professionals.
• Proficiency with MS Office, development CRM software, and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Identify and cultivate major givers and secure at least $300K in annual operating support.
• Administer outreach, communications and stewardship plans to sustain relationships with donors.
• Provide leadership for a $5M endowment campaign; conduct feasibility studies and develop a compelling case for support.
• Manage Parks & People’s development staff and ensure fundraising activities meet goals.
• Provide professional development opportunities to the development team.
• Staff the Board of Directors' Development Committee and Events Committee to guide fundraising strategy.
• Collaborate with the President & CEO to engage leaders across sectors and major donors.
• Oversee development division activities, donor database, grant tracking, and reporting systems.
