Job summary

Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs is seeking a Development Director to lead fundraising strategy and execution. You will manage major gifts, grants, annual giving, and corporate partnerships, while building systems and leading a small team in a hybrid DC-area setting.

You will partner with the Executive Director, board, and program leadership to grow revenue, manage data, and refine development processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years nonprofit development experience with supervision.
• Experience across major gifts, foundations, grants, events, and annual giving.
• Fluency with Raiser's Edge or similar CRM and sound database architecture.
• Ability to build and improve fundraising systems and budgets.
• Experience working with senior leadership and diverse boards.

Responsibilities

• Own data integrity in Raiser's Edge, ensuring campaigns, funds, appeals, and gift records are well structured.
• Develop and monitor a grant calendar, ROI-focused pipelines, and dashboards for leadership and board Committees.
• Build and execute development plans to meet annual revenue goals and steward donor relationships.
• Lead fundraising communications and coordinate with program staff to reflect impact to donors.
• Plan, oversee, and evaluate fundraising events and donor engagement activities.
• Supervise and develop direct reports, fostering onboarding and professional growth.
• Champion AI adoption to improve efficiency in prospect research, messaging, and CRM usage.
