Community Lodgings in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Development Director to lead day-to-day fundraising and communications. You will personally manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, work with a Grant Writer and Communications staff, and own relationships, events, and data systems that keep our fundraising running smoothly.

The role is hands-on, requiring both strategic leadership and hands-on execution, with occasional evenings and weekends for events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 6-8+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
• Experience managing a donor portfolio and closing gifts, not just overseeing a program.
• Track record of raising funds from individual, corporate, and foundation sources; capital campaign experience preferred but not required.
• Comfortable shifting between big-picture strategy and hands-on execution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiar with donor tracking systems and DMV nonprofit/philanthropic community is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Develop and execute an annual fundraising plan covering individual, corporate, and foundation support in partnership with leadership.
• Manage a personal portfolio of donors and prospects, advancing them through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Advance the capital campaign alongside annual fundraising priorities.
• Build and maintain relationships with current, former, and prospective supporters and partners.
• Partner with Grant Writer to manage proposals and reports on time.
• Research new funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government.
• Plan and manage the major annual event and partner events from concept to execution.
• Use events as relationship-building tools, not just revenue sources.
• Align donor-facing messaging across appeals, newsletters, and social media.
• Prepare donor cultivation and solicitation materials.
• Manage gift processing, acknowledgment letters, and DonorPerfect data accuracy and reporting to ED/Board.
• Track and report fundraising progress against budget.
