Job summary

Water’s Edge Ministries is seeking a Director of Development to lead and grow our fundraising efforts, working closely with the Executive Director and board to advance the ministry's mission.

The role oversees donor engagement, prospect research, and all fundraising programs, including major gifts, annual giving, events, and grants, while developing staff and ensuring ethical fundraising practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strategic, analytical and operational ability to set goals, identify opportunities, manage budgets and forecasts, evaluate results.
• Strong leadership and management skills with ability to build a team and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Willingness to travel regionally by car; occasional air travel may be required.
• Nonprofit fundraising experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff in interpreting the ministry's work to inspire engagement and generosity.
• Lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy across giving streams and foundations.
• Set annual revenue and performance goals with the Executive Director.
• Manage an active donor portfolio and corresponding engagement activities.
• Oversee donor cultivation, solicitations, stewardship, and reporting.
• Recruit, supervise, and mentor the development team and volunteers.
