Job summary

Job Description: The Development Coordinator (DC) is a key member of the Domestic Regional Development Team, providing critical fundraising support and high-level administrative and operational coordination for the Associate Vice President of Development (AVP). In this role, the incumbent assists in managing a portfolio of 50–60 principal gift prospects capable of giving $5M+ by coordinating communications and stewardship to prepare them for gift solicitations. The DC also manages day‑to‑day administrative tasks and serves as a key representative for the AVP across the Advancement division. To be successful, the incumbent needs a deep understanding of the University's initiatives, culture, and key stakeholders. The coordinator must stay well‑informed about critical donor relationships to effectively prioritize tasks and adapt to shifting priorities that impact University leadership. This role requires routine collaboration with colleagues across the institution, including Advancement leadership, Alumni Relations, and faculty members. The successful candidate will strictly follow division policies, possess excellent communication and writing skills, build strong internal relationships, and bring a proactive, highly organized, and professional attitude to the team. The considering coordinator must be located in the Providence, RI area.

  • Manage day‑to‑day administrative tasks and serve as a key representative for the AVP across the Advancement division.
  • Stay well‑informed about critical donor relationships to effectively prioritize tasks and adapt to shifting priorities that impact University leadership.
  • Collaborate routinely with colleagues across the institution, including Advancement leadership, Alumni Relations, and faculty members.
  • Strictly follow division policies, possess excellent communication and writing skills, build strong internal relationships, and bring a proactive, highly organized, and professional attitude to the team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field such as development, fundraising, administrative support, sales, or customer relations.
  • Must be located in the Providence, RI area.
Job Competencies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and project and time management skills.
  • Expertise in Microsoft and Google platforms, especially Google Calendar and email, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient with audio/visual and presentation platforms (Zoom, Teams, WebEx, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must have a proven record of being detail‑oriented and a self‑starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities to meet aggressive timelines and challenging deadlines, while always keeping an eye toward the larger goals of all programs and services, along with a demonstrated commitment to maintaining the highest standards.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and apply tact.
  • Customer‑focused, customer service orientation.
  • Poised, maintaining "grace under pressure" while managing competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, research information, problem‑solve, and coordinate projects.
  • Must be able and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a higher education, fundraising, or non‑profit setting highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud CRM preferred.
  • Proficient in leveraging AI productivity tools to streamline content creation, optimize workflows, and enhance regional donor outreach strategies.
