Position Summary
The Development Coordinator plays a key role in advancing the mission and fundraising goals of UNC Health Nash Foundation through the management of fundraising events, annual giving campaigns, donor engagement initiatives, and strategic communications efforts. This position serves as the primary coordinator for the Foundation's signature fundraising events and designated annual giving campaigns, with responsibility for driving revenue growth, expanding donor participation, strengthening community engagement, and enhancing donor stewardship.
The Development Coordinator develops and executes event, marketing, and communication strategies that support philanthropic objectives, increase awareness of the Foundation's impact, and foster meaningful relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, grateful patients, employees, and community stakeholders. Working closely with the Executive Director, Foundation staff, volunteer committees, and hospital leadership, the position combines project management, fundraising, event planning, marketing, and donor engagement responsibilities to support the Foundation's annual and long-term fundraising success.
This role requires a high level of attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, mission driven environment.
Education
Associate’s in business or related field, such as Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing or Nonprofit Administration.
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Nonprofit Administration or related field.
Experience
Minimum of two years of experience in business services, accounting, or nonprofit administration.
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing fundraising events with responsibility for sponsorship solicitation, revenue generation, attendee engagement, and event marketing.
- Experience developing and executing integrated marketing and communication plans to support fundraising initiatives.
- Demonstrated success coordinating multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines, budgets, and stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, events, campaigns, and communications simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create compelling donor communications, marketing content, sponsorship materials, newsletters, and fundraising appeals.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and execute events, manage event logistics, and support revenue-generating fundraising initiatives.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, donor stewardship practices, sponsorship development, and community engagement strategies.
- Experience developing and implementing marketing and communication plans utilizing email, social media, website content, print materials, and other communication channels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with donor management systems, email marketing platforms, social media management tools, and website content management systems.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Knowledgeable about current business, civic, governmental and social leaders of Rocky Mount/Nash County and surrounding areas.

Administrative Support
- Support donor acknowledgement and stewardship process.
- Manage internal scholarship program (Zipf Professional Development Scholarship)
- Maintains and updates Foundation Wall of Honor on an ongoing basis, and all signage for donor recognition.
- Prepare materials for Board and committee meetings; serve as recording secretary and maintain official records.
Event Management
- Lead the planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of the Foundation's signature fundraising events, donor cultivation activities, and recognition events.
- Manage event logistics, budgets, sponsorships, vendor relationships, volunteer coordination, and attendee engagement strategies.
- Develop and implement strategies that increase attendance, sponsorship participation, donor engagement, and event revenue.
Campaign Management and Annual Giving
- Lead assigned annual giving campaigns, including Lights of Love, Power of Pink, and other fundraising initiatives.
- Develop campaign strategies, donor communications, stewardship activities, and promotional efforts that drive participation and philanthropic support.
- Coordinate donor acknowledgment, recognition, and campaign-related stewardship activities.
Digital Communications, Marketing and Online Presence
- Develop and execute digital marketing and communication strategies that support fundraising campaigns, events, and donor engagement.
- Manage the Foundation's website, social media presence, email marketing efforts, and quarterly donor newsletter.
- Create and implement multi-channel marketing campaigns and analyze performance metrics to improve engagement and fundraising outcomes.
