Job Overview

The Development Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the fundraising and donor engagement efforts of the FSHD Society. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely gift entry and acknowledgement, maintaining donor records, coordinating mass mailings, donor prospecting and generating reports and segmented lists from the CRM system. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and committed to delivering exceptional donor experiences. This role reports to the Director of Development and works closely with the Senior Salesforce Administrator and other development staff.

Primary Responsibilities

Gift Entry & Data Management

  • Accurately enter/sync all donations and pledges into the CRM system (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar).
  • Ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts through thank-you letters and receipts.
  • Maintain data integrity by regularly auditing and updating donor records.
  • Work with the finance team to reconcile daily batch reports.

Donor Stewardship

  • Support the development team in executing stewardship plans, including personalized outreach, recognition and scheduling.
  • Assist in preparing donor communications (print & electronic).
  • Track donor engagement and flag opportunities for cultivation or recognition.
  • Conduct donor prospecting to identify and qualify potential supporters.

Mass Mailing Coordination

  • Coordinate logistics for direct mail & e-campaigns, including list generation, printing, and mailing.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
  • Maintain mailing calendars and track campaign performance metrics.

CRM Reporting & List Generation

  • Generate segmented donor lists for appeals, newsletters, and events.
  • Create and maintain regular development reports (e.g., giving summaries, LYBUNT reports, campaign tracking).
  • Support data analysis to inform fundraising strategies and donor engagement.

Perform other administrative duties and other assignments as needed.

Experience And Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a development or fundraising support role, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce [preferred], Raiser’s Edge, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with fundraising and donor prospecting platforms (Classy [preferred], iWave, or similar).
  • Has a strong affinity for and quickly adapts to new technology platforms.
  • Strong data management skills and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starter, enthusiastic, self-motivated.
  • Committed to excellence and quality.

Education / Certifications / Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, development, communications, or a related field.
  • Any Salesforce certification is a plus.

  • Must be able to see and read fine print. Employee will have close visual contact with a computer monitor constantly.
  • Must be able to communicate utilizing a telephone.

  • Must have access to post office for frequent acknowledgement mailing.
  • Must have space to accommodate an at-home printer and mailing materials.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will sit for long periods of time and may use repetitive wrist and hand motions involved in sorting and handling documents. The employee is regularly required to reach, with hands and arms.

  • Periodic travel for all-staff meetings (3x/year) and biennial conference
