Job summary

The Development Business Analyst at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis serves as the primary BI and analytics partner for Advancement, supporting data needs across the museum. They design, build, and maintain reports, dashboards, datasets, and analytical tools that transform CRM and enterprise data into reliable information for decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, data analysis, analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases; experience with data warehouses and integrated enterprise data is preferred.
  • Experience designing and building dashboards/reports using Power BI, Tableau or similar tools, including data modeling and QA.
  • Experience with Python, R, or similar analytics tools and building/predictive analytics or ML models.
  • Experience with CRM systems and nonprofit fundraising data is preferred.
  • Ability to translate business questions into technical requirements and explain results to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to use generative AI/LLMs to support analytics and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, builds, maintains, and enhances reports, dashboards, and self-service analytics for Advancement and other departments using CRM and enterprise data sources.
  • Translates business questions into analytical requirements, measures, data definitions, and technical solutions; develops ad-hoc queries and analyses.
  • Develops, validates, and maintains predictive analytics and machine learning models for donor propensity, segmentation, retention, and forecasting.
  • Builds projections and scenario analyses using historical data and partners with stakeholders to ensure outputs are usable for planning.
  • Collaborates with IT and Finance to ensure records are reconciled across systems and data definitions are consistent.
  • Maintains documentation for business logic, calculations, data definitions, assumptions, and reporting processes.
  • Works with multiple museum departments to integrate data from CRM, finance, web, marketing, retail, and other platforms into reporting.
