Job summary

George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, NJ, seeks a proactive Development Associate to support fundraising efforts and donor communications. The role requires collaboration with the Director of Advancement and other departments to advance our mission.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 1–2 years of relevant nonprofit fundraising experience, and strong organizational and communication skills. This is an on-site role with occasional events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with donor database systems (Tessitura preferred).
• Ability to work collaboratively with donors, staff, artists, board, and the public.
• Passion for the performing arts or nonprofit work a plus.

Responsibilities

• Craft donor communications and solicitation materials.
• Manage annual fund appeals.
• Coordinate grant proposals and reports with a freelance writer.
• Collaborate with departments to develop proposals and identify fundable projects.
• Manage calendars for appeals, grants, and reports.
• Maintain CRM records of gifts and relationships.
• Prepare gift acknowledgments and donor benefits.
• Provide admin support to the Director of Advancement.
• Plan and execute donor events and galas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
