Job summary

Pregnancy Justice is seeking a Development Associate to advance fundraising across all segments. You will support donor engagement, maintain CRM records, track grants, manage events, and handle day-to-day development operations with meticulous organization.

The role requires 1–3 years of experience, a detail-oriented mindset, and a commitment to the organization’s mission. Hybrid NYC work arrangement and meaningful benefits are included.

Salary Range

Pregnancy Justice sets salary ranges based on experience and in accordance with the organizational pay scale. This position is considered an “Associate I” level on the organizational salary scale and seeks a candidate with 1-3 years of experience, representing a salary range of $71,225 to $76,701. Additional details are specified below.

  • $73,005 - 1 Year Experience
  • $74,830 - 2 Years Experience

Job Summary

The Development Associate plays a key role in sustaining and growing Pregnancy Justice’s fundraising efforts across all fundraising segments. This position supports donor engagement and stewardship, database management, grant tracking, fundraising events, and day-to-day development operations. We are seeking someone who is detail-oriented, highly organized, relational, and committed to the organization’s mission.

Essential Job Functions
Donor Stewardship & Engagement
  • Process donations accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date donor records in our CRM/donor database.
  • Ensure prompt and personalized gift acknowledgments.
  • Track donor engagement and help implement stewardship plans.
  • Support donor communications, including newsletters and appeals, in coordination with communications staff.
  • Develop donor profiles and donor meeting briefs.
Grants & Institutional Giving Support
  • Maintain and actively manage a comprehensive grants calendar with clear deadlines and deliverables.
  • Track proposal components and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with program and finance staff to ensure all narratives, metrics, and financial documentation are prepared timely.
  • Ensure timely submission of proposals and reports with rigorous quality control.
  • Maintain organized grant files.
Fundraising Campaigns & Events
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans for end-of-year and other fundraising campaigns.
  • Monitor fundraising campaign performance and generate reports to inform strategy.
  • Support logistics and communications for fundraising events, including tracking timelines and milestones, managing vendor relationships, coordinating relevant donor and other communications, and preparing event briefing materials.
Development Operations & Project Management
  • Create and maintain systems that support effective fundraising workflows.
  • Run accurate reports to support development strategy and activities.
  • Track all revenues on an ongoing basis and partner with Chief of Staff and Major Gifts Officer to develop annual revenue targets.
  • Reconcile donation records with the Finance team.
  • Conduct donor and other related research and create research briefs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in fundraising, communications, program coordination, project management or related work.
  • Experience with donor databases/CRMs (Salesforce and Funraise preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including tracking multiple deliverables and sources of information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and use of relevant software to analyze revenue and other quantitative information (e.g., Excel, PowerBI)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

The work is primarily performed in an office setting and/or remotely, with offsite meetings and events. Occasional travel will be required. Suitable candidates must be able to read, write, and interpret documents and perform highly detailed work. This is largely a sedentary position that requires the employee to sit, stand, walk, and bend, and may occasionally require moving files and other equipment.

As operational needs allow and with supervisory approval, staff are able to sign off early on Friday afternoons, typically at 1:00 pm for 9:00 am start, or 2:00 pm for a 10:00 am start so long as deadlines and operational needs are met. Staff are not eligible for comp time for time worked beyond a half-day on a Friday. Pregnancy Justice endeavors to avoid internal meetings on Fridays to allow for quiet focused work time.

Court deadlines and operational demands of the organization will sometimes require employees to work longer hours, including nights and weekends. When this occurs, the employee’s direct supervisor may authorize occasional alterations to their start and/or end times.
