Job summary

The New York Philharmonic seeks a Development Associate to join its Individual Giving team, supporting the Patron Program and Young New Yorkers donors. You will cultivate, solicit, steward, and engage donors while advancing fundraising goals and delivering exceptional donor experiences.

The role regularly interfaces with donors, internal stakeholders, and hospitality partners, with occasional evening and weekend commitments for events and performances.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of relevant professional experience in fundraising, membership, customer service, administration, or a related field.
• Experience supporting donor-facing programs, membership services, or fundraising operations; database experience required, with Tessitura experience highly valued.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, computer proficiency, and comfort working with data.

Responsibilities

• Draft, coordinate, and track Patron Program and Young New Yorkers communications, including solicitations, acknowledgments, and stewardship outreach.
• Process gifts and use Tessitura to maintain donor records and generate reports.
• Support membership events through correspondence, attendance tracking, reporting, budget monitoring, and onsite assistance.
• Maintain donor and prospect plans in Tessitura and support moves management activities.
• Coordinate operations for the Ackman Family Patron Lounge and Music Box, including inventory and hospitality communication.
• Assist with expense, budget, and revenue tracking and analysis of giving trends.
• Respond to donor inquiries and support Patron Desk, concierge ticket service, and benefit fulfillment.

About The Role

The New York Philharmonic seeks a Development Associate to join its collaborative and donor-focused Individual Giving team. This role supports the Patron Program (individual donors giving $3,000–$24,999) and the Young New Yorkers Program (donors ages 21–45), helping cultivate, solicit, steward, and engage members while advancing fundraising goals and exceptional donor experiences.

The position regularly interacts with donors, internal stakeholders, and hospitality partners and includes occasional evening and weekend commitments associated with performances, Patron Lounge coverage, membership activities, and special events.

Your Day-to-Day

• Draft, coordinate, and track Patron Program and Young New Yorkers communications, including solicitations, acknowledgements, membership cards, newsletters, and stewardship outreach
• Process gifts and use Tessitura to maintain accurate donor records and generate lists, extractions, and reports
• Support membership events through correspondence, attendance tracking, reporting, budget monitoring, and onsite assistance
• Maintain donor and prospect plans in Tessitura and support moves management activities
• Coordinate operations for the Ackman Family Patron Lounge and Music Box, including inventory, maintenance, invoices, check-in lists, and hospitality team communication
• Assist with expense, budget, and revenue tracking and contribute to analysis of giving trends
• Respond to donor inquiries and support the Patron Desk, concierge ticket service, and benefit fulfillment for Patrons, Young New Yorkers, Leonard Bernstein Circle, Board members, and other major donors
• Support frontline fundraising through inbound calls, membership renewals, upgrades, and acquisitions
• Staff the Patron Lounge at select performances and assist with membership and special events as needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 1+ year of relevant professional experience in fundraising, membership, customer service, administration, or a related field
• Experience supporting donor-facing programs, membership services, or fundraising operations; database experience required, with Tessitura experience highly valued
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, computer proficiency, and comfort working with data
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a season-driven environment
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while adapting to shifting needs

Compensation & Work Arrangement

Salary: $57,285

This position operates in a hybrid work environment. Candidates should expect a regular in-office presence, particularly during the first several months, to support onboarding, relationship building, and operational integration. Ongoing hybrid flexibility is available based on role responsibilities and organizational needs.
