Job Title: Development Associate

Responsibilities
- Assist with project research, documentation, and coordination across all phases of development.
- Track project timelines, budgets, and schedules, maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants, contractors, and local agencies to ensure projects progress smoothly.
- Maintain project coordination management, including entitlement, scheduling, budgeting, and planning for assigned projects.
- Assist in risk identification, roadblock analysis, and financial feasibility assessment during the project approval process.
- Develop and publish project performance dashboards and reports.
- Recommend improvements to scheduling processes.
- Manage vendor and consultant relations, including communication, purchase orders, invoicing, file management, and payment distribution.
- Coordinate and support consultant and contractor engagements across internal teams such as construction, pre‑construction, capital markets, finance & accounting, development, and operations.
- Participate in project coordination meetings.
- Communicate changes and schedule variances to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in planning & zoning with local municipalities.
- Engage in additional projects and leadership behaviors as needed.
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of real estate development concepts (market research, site selection, project coordination).
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn across tasks.
- Familiarity with key real estate terms and principles, with a willingness to deepen knowledge.
- Strong organizational skills for collecting and compiling project information.
- Positive attitude toward problem‑solving and contributing to project outcomes.
- Team player comfortable working with departments such as construction, hospitality, and finance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to manage tasks independently.
- Relevant coursework, certifications, or involvement in real estate or project management organizations is a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast‑moving environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in real estate, urban planning, architecture, business administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least one year of professional, hands‑on real estate experience with a focus on multifamily, retail, and/or mixed‑use, and demonstrable ability to oversee the full project lifecycle.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Employees are required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach, talk, and hear. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, and crawling may occur. Work is primarily in an office with regular exposure to project sites.
Location and Travel
Position based in Nashville, TN with occasional travel to markets in Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Denver, and Florida.
